What is a flower essence?
A flower essence is a very simple thing: the quiet energy of a flower, held in water. That is all it is — no scent, no colouring, nothing added. You take it by mouth, seven drops under the tongue.
It is not a perfume, and not an aromatherapy oil — those are breathed in or worn. It is not a herbal remedy, either — there is no plant material in the bottle, no taste of herb, no dose to count. A flower essence works on how you feel, not on your body the way a medicine does.
The practice began in England in the 1930s, when Dr Edward Bach noticed that certain flowers seemed to sit beside certain feelings — fear, exhaustion, uncertainty, discouragement — and set out to offer that comfort in a bottle. The English essences we use are his, still chosen today by how a person is feeling.

Her Own Light is a small New Zealand company making personal flower essence blends, posted to you wherever you are in the world. We began with a simple belief: that how you feel deserves to be listened to properly, not skimmed.
Every reflection is read by a real person. We choose each blend by hand from the traditional English flower essences, review it carefully, and only then make it and post it to you. Nothing is chosen by a machine and nothing is sent automatically.
We keep things small on purpose — so every person who writes to us is genuinely looked after.

Will it interfere with my medication?
Flower essences are a gentle companion, not a medicine, and are generally considered safe alongside other care. That said, please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any concerns — and keep any care you already have in place.
How do I take it?
It isn't a perfume or a spray. The essence is taken by mouth — seven drops under the tongue. Full, simple directions come with your blend.
How is it posted?
Once we have reviewed your reflection and approved your blend, we are in touch about payment, then make it and post it to the address you give us — anywhere in the world. Nothing is charged or sent before that.
Who reads my answers?
Only our practitioners. Your reflection is private, and we never share it.
What if I'm not sure what to write?
There are no wrong answers. Write as much or as little as feels right — even a few honest words help us choose well for you.
Can I order the same blend again?
Yes — if you've had a blend from us before, you can ask for a refill using your reference, without doing the whole reflection again.
